Tokyo paPiers
Tokyo paPiers makes notebooks from deep-dyed black, carmine and eucalyptus paper, designed for writing in white and gold ink. I built the online store as a fully custom Shopify theme, launching in December 2026. From the hand-drawn logo in the opening to the product pages, every part of the site is about how writing glows on dark paper.

The centrepiece is the "Try writing" corner on each product page. Visitors can draw straight onto the notebook with a mouse, finger or stylus, or type a message and preview it on the page in different fonts, ink colours and sizes, switching between ruled, dot-grid and plain paper. It lets customers see exactly how their writing will look before they buy.

The store is available in English, French and Arabic, with a right-to-left layout for Arabic and a handwritten heading animation for each language. A colour-mode switch lets visitors view the whole site in Dark, Carmine, Eucalyptus or Bright.

Below each product, a "Try writing" corner lets visitors draw right on the notebook with a mouse or finger, choosing ink colour and pen width to see how it feels before they buy.
Whatever visitors type appears on the notebook page itself. They can switch fonts, ink colour and size, and choose ruled, dot-grid or plain paper to preview their words.
Matching the three notebook colours, a colour mode lets visitors view the whole site in Dark, Carmine, Eucalyptus or Bright, and their choice is remembered for the next visit.
